Bloom Report - February 12, 2025

Hi everyone!

We have some event news to share with you,

along with some other tidbits and a few photos.

First, a reminder about our winter hours...

Other than the holiday closure on Monday noted above,
our regular winter hours look like this:

The Gardens are open for walking every day 9am-5pm

through the winter as long as conditions permit. The Gardens and paths are not maintained from November to April, so you visit at your own risk.

Entry is gained through the Gardens Shop

and admission is by free will offering - suggested donation $5 per adult.

(If you have a Garden Membership, there is no expectation of an entry offering,

although donations are always gratefully accepted.)

Visitor Washrooms – Closed for the winter.

(Public washrooms are available nearby at the Town’s Comfort Station on Drury Lane.)

The Gardens Shop is also open 7 days a week, 9am-5pm.

Some seasonal shots...

Sometimes our trees pose quite artistically, like the one in background. And the rhodos in the foreground were kind enough to provide a nice frame for the scene.

The seeds of the Gibraltar Azalea.

Yellow heath trying to be seen...

Time to get your Garden Membership for 2025!

Did you know?

Everyone's memberships are up for renewal on December 31 annually,

no matter when they are purchased.

In addition to our popular options for Adult/Senior/Student Memberships and our elevated Gold Membership, this year we are introducing a new option of special interest for those who may live alone and would love to have a friend or family member to walk with or join them for lunch at the Elm Tree Cafe. Our PLUS ONE Membership allows you to bring along a friend, family member or support worker to accompany you when you visit the Gardens. It is very flexible so you can bring a different person each time you visit if you wish.

For more about Garden Memberships, visit our website HERE.

Winter Blossoms

We love our witch hazels!

These stalwart bloomers are the gifts that keep on giving,

providing colour through the winter months.

These lovely winter blossoms (and their other Witch Hazel friends) will be a highlight in the coming weeks and through until early March. They are easy to miss, so please ask for directions in the Gardens Shop if you want to be sure to see them!

The Gardens Shop

A reminder that the Gardens Shop has a great selection of gift ideas all year long!

With Valentine's Day just around the corner,

the staff wanted to share some of their favourite gift ideas...

Also, a reminder that the federal "Tax Holiday" ends on February 15,

so if you want to save the tax on books, stuffies and other qualifying items,

drop in this week!

The Gardens Shop is typically open 7 days a week for your convenience,

from 9am-5pm. Drop by soon!

And if you can't get here in person,

you can explore our online shop for gift ideas, and have items shipped.

On Saturday, February 15, our flag turns 60!

What a good excuse for a Courtyard celebration in the Gardens,

gathering around our fire with hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows... and celebrating our flag and our nation!

We've got lots of flags for Saturday's Flag Day event,

thanks to a kind community member.

And of course, we've been excavating in the Courtyard

in order to find our benches and fire bowl under all the snow.

No worries though - we found them!

Plus we have lots of space in the breezeway and surrounding area.

We are expecting a fair crowd...

for SOME reason we Canucks are really into our flag waving this winter!

We hope you can join us!

Donations to the Gardens

The Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens Society is a registered charity whose purpose is stewardship of these Seventeen Acres of Paradise. Without the charitable donations we receive every year, the Gardens could simply not exist. We encourage you to support the Society in this important work to help to ensure the Gardens continue to blossom for future generations.

Please consider a donation today!

The Community Around Us!

While we love sharing photos of the Gardens,

we also love sharing the beauty of our community.

Fort Anne National Historic Site - iconic Annapolis Royal!

The Acadian Odyssey Monument was unveiled at Fort Anne National Historic Site late in 2024,

commemorating the deportation of 1,664 Acadians from Annapolis Royal on December 8, 1755.
An important part of our Canadian history.

Life is a Snow Globe!

Speaking of community,

we are pleased to share this new video showcasing our region!
(Thanks to Annapolis County and Tourism Nova Scotia.)

Once again, we appreciate your response to our Bloom Reports and encourage you to

hit "forward" and share them with friends and family all over the world.

You are a great team of Garden Ambassadors!

All for now. Cheers!

Trish

The Gardens would not be here without lots of amazing community support. Please consider a donation to the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens Society (Charitable # 106714736 RR0001).
